Sustainability

At MA's, sustainability isn't a trend; it’s something that our foundations were built. From the soil that grows our spices to the communities who cultivate them, we take care of what matters most. Our promise is simple: to make food that's good for people, the planet, and future generations.

We believe true quality extends beyond taste, encompassing our responsibility to our planet and our people through sustainabled evelopment that balances economic growth, environmental protection, and community wellbeing.

Our Four Pillars of Good Impact

Planet Icon

Good for the Planet

Protecting Sri Lanka's natural resources through environmental stewardship and innovative practices. We're committed to reducing our environmental footprint through the strategic conversion of boilers to biofuel, comprehensive composting programs, and water recycling systems. Our ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System ensures continuous improvement in carbon monitoring, waste reduction, and resource efficiency. By strategically locating our facilities near agricultural communities, we minimize transport emissions while supporting local communities.

Farmers Icon

Good for Farmers

Empowering over 600 smallholder farmers through fair partnerships and sustainable practices. Our dedicated extension team provides organic certification support, fair trade training, and technology transfer programs directly to farming communities. Fairtrade premiums are reinvested locally, improving farming efficiency and community infrastructure. We ensure fair pricing, provide educational support for farmers' children through school book provisions, and uphold Fairtrade principles that guarantee safe working conditions and dignified livelihoods throughout our supply chain.

People Icon

Good for People

Our good people are our greatest asset. We are deeply committed to fostering a positive and equitable environment for everyone connected to MA's: We foster inclusive workplaces through women-led career development, DEI empowerment programs, and active inclusion of persons with disabilities. Our ISO 45001 workplace safety certification, comprehensive employee wellbeing programs, fair wage initiatives, and educational support for all employees' children through school book provisions demonstrate our commitment to putting people first in everything we do.

Certified Icon

Good Practices, Certified

Maintaining transparency, ethics, and traceability through rigorous global certifications. Our commitment to excellence is validated through multiple certifications: Fairtrade for fair wages and community development, USDA/JAS/EU Organic for chemical-free farming, Sedex auditing for ethical supply chains, and ISO 14001 for environmental management. These certifications ensure accountability and continuous improvement in our sustainable practices across all operations.
